Symbol // Signal
Symbol//Signal was my first solo show, held at UNTiTLED gallery + studio in 2024.
This body of work explored the intricate relationship between personal symbolism and emotional memory through two distinct yet interconnected bodies of work.
In Symbol, bold prints celebrate a joyful return to Darwin, capturing the warmth of home through the vivid use of colour and the familiar geometry of breeze blocks. These compositions reflect both the physical and emotional textures of place, evoking the iconic elements of the city that have come to signify comfort and belonging.
Signal, by contrast, delved into the objects that have accrued emotional weight over time—items tied to events and memories that had shaped my journey.
Together, the works reimagined still life as a form of fantastical storytelling, layering personal symbology into new visual narratives that bridged memory, meaning, and moment.
